Texans Win the Division!

0-3 to 11-5.

From worst to first.

The Texans did the unbelievable and won the division today in convincing fashion over the Jaguars. They will get to play one more time in front of their home crowd.

It remains to be seen whether or not they will do it next weekend or the weekend after, depending on the results of the Chargers and Chiefs. If both teams lose, the Texans will get the 2nd seed and secure a 1st round bye. If one or both teams win, the Texans will be playing next weekend.

The NRG will be rocking no matter when the Texans play, that’s for sure.

Let’s look at the heroes for week 17.

Best WR in the Game

Has there been a time throughout the season where I did not include Best WR in the Game’s name on the hero list? I am really being redundant at this point. What else can I say about him? He is clearly the best. I know it. You know it. Jalen Ramsey definitely knows it, especially after today. Best WR finished the game with 12 Receptions and 147 Yards lining up against possibly the best CB in the NFL. He constantly shredded Ramsey throughout the entire game. Best WR finishes the season with 115 Receptions, 1572 yards, and 11 TDs, the greatest season for a WR in Texans history. He ties Andre Johnson for most receptions in team history, and now has the most receptions in 6 seasons. Best WR is not only the best WR in the NFL currently, but it’s time to start the discussion that he may be the best WR in Texans history.

JJ Watt

From being hurt the last two seasons to finishing the season with 16 sacks! JJ Watt may have lost half a step since his two season ending injuries but he’s shown that he’s still better than 99% of the defensive players in the NFL. He finished today with a statline of 1.5 sacks, 1 Pass Deflection, and a forced fumble, leading the NFL in fumbles. He had an elbow injury but was able to finish the game. Hopefully he is going to be good for the playoffs because the Texans will need him.

The defense

This game was by far the best performance of the defense this season. They held the Jaguars offense to 3 points today. The defense, especially the secondary, has spent the past month getting absolutely roasted by every QB they play. Although it was against Blake Bortles, it was good to see the defense play to the elite level we all know they are capable of.

The Zeroes of week 17

The Offensive Line

6 sacks, 11 QB hits. That is unacceptable, especially when the Texans are about to go to the playoffs. Granted Deshaun Watson needs to learn when to get rid of the ball, but the offensive line needs to perform better if the Texans have any shot of winning the Super Bowl this season.

That’s all I have for this one. Again, it’s hard to critique a team when they win. The offensive line and secondary will have to tidy up, especially if they don’t want to be one and done in the playoffs.

However, I’ll see y’all next weekend as there will be Texans football in January!
