New Orleans Pelicans: Anthony Davis set to return to Pels…..for now

New Orleans Sports NEWS

After a week of deliberation, the New Orleans Pelicans announced that six-time all-star, Anthony Davis, will rejoin the team for the remainder of the season. According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the NBA office was concerned about the possibility of a healthy star being forced to sit out in this situation.

“A number of factors contributed to this decision. Ultimately, Anthony made it clear to us that he wants to play and he gives our team the best opportunity to win games.Pelicans Dell Demps Said. “Moreover, the Pelicans want to preserve the integrity of the game and align our organization with NBA policies. We believe Anthony playing upholds the values that are in the best interest of the NBA and its fans. We look forward to seeing Anthony in a Pelicans uniform again soon.”

After demanding a trade 11 days ago, the Pelicans considered the possibility to shut their star center down for the rest of the season to keep him healthy for a potential trade. However, since the Pelicans did not trade Davis before Thursday’s deadline, he will play the rest of the 2019 season in New Orleans.

Despite the drama that surrounded him the last few days, Davis is returning to line up after missing nine games with a finger injury. The 6’10 big man from the University of Kentucky is averaging 29.3 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks across 41 games.
