The NFL draft is vastly approaching!

As we all know, the Texans have needs they are looking to address. The two main areas they will hope to address are OL and CB. I have been looking at the NFL draft class and have a few names that I will love to hear the Texans call on draft day. Here is my list

Andraez “Greedy” Williams 6’2 185 lbs CB LSU

Greedy Williams has done nothing but earn his nickname as a player. At LSU, he was a ball hawk, securing 6 interceptions in his first full time season as a starter. The Texans have a need for ball hawks in their secondary. The most a Texan player had last season was 3.

Greedy is also a longĀ and fast cornerback, both which the Texans are needing in their secondary. At the combine, he ran a 4.37 40 yard dash. He uses his length and size to disrupt WRs off the line as well as the timing of their routes. He is also one of the most fluid CBs in the draft.

Here is a video of some of his greatest work shutting down one of the top draft prospects this season in D.K. Metcalf.

Williams, along with Bradley Roby, Johnathan Joseph, Aaron Colvin, and Briean Boddy-Calhoun, will already be a much back CB tandem than the one they had last season. Joseph can also groom Williams to be the Texans next CB1 for years to come.

Cody Ford 6’4 329 LBs OT Oklohoma

Offensive Tackle is just as much of a need as CB. Since prospects Jonah Williams, Andre Dillard, and Jawaan Taylor will likely be off the board by time the Texans pick, Cody Ford is the next best bet!

One reason why I like Ford is because of his similarity to former Texans RG Brandon Brooks (Still mad that they let him go btw). From size to playing style, they are both similar players.

Ford has a rare ability of both size and speed. He can move very well for a player near 330 lbs. He is versatile and has experience at both Tackle and Guard, both are what Bill O’Brien values in his players. He is also a mauler in the run game. He is by far the most nastiest Lineman in the draft (A BIG Texan need in the offensive line).

Here is Ford going against the Almighty Alabama. I believe he held his own for the most part in this game.

If rumors are true and the Texans are going to sign former Raiders OT Donald Penn, then the combination of Penn-Ford at Tackle will be much better than the one from last season. Ford can also use that time to learn from Penn to be groomed as the future LT of the Texans.

Joshua Jacobs 5’10 220 lbs RB Alabama

I’ll shamelessly admit, Joshua Jacobs is my favorite player from the 2019 NFL Draft Class. I know there is no chance he will get out of the first round, and that the Texans are not going to draft him in the first round. However, I would love for the Texans to select him in the draft.

One thing I love about Jacobs is his violent running style. This dude is just tough to tackle, he will not go down without a fight. He also has a great combination of power and elusiveness, something that the Texans could use at RB.

Jacobs has the tools to be a 3-down back in the NFL. He can run, catch, and block. His toughness is also second to none.

A great example of his toughness is this clip in a blowout loss against Clemson.

You can search many clips of Jacobs. He is just an outstanding player and I am excited to watch him on Sundays.

Abdurrahman “Rock” Ya-Sin 6’0 192 lbs CB Temple

At first, I had no clue who Ya-Sin was. I kept hearing the name and the hype. Finally, I turned on the film, and man was I impressed!

This CB is just as fluid and technical as Greedy Williams, just less athletic. He also has long arms to press and jam WRs. I don’t see a way he makes it out of round one, but it would be lovely to have him on the Texans.

A great clip of Ya-Sin vs UCF.

Well, there you have it. These are my dream prospects for the Texans. I will be back in a week or so for the Texans mock draft. Until then, later!
