Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic signs with Jordan Brand, set to return vs Spurs


After months of speculations, the NBA’s top free agent is finally off the market. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Luka Doncic has agreed to a lucrative multi-year deal to sign with Jordan Brand. Thursday morning, the shoe company officially announced the signing of Doncic via social media and their website to welcome the NBA’s reigning Rookie of the Year.

The news of his endorsement deal came on the same day the Dallas Mavericks announced Doncic’s return to the lineup after missing the previous four games due to an ankle injury.

At 20 years old, Doncic has proved himself as one of the NBA’s brightest stars. In his second season, he has emerged as a top MVP candidate averaging 29.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists, while helping the Mavericks to the fifth-best record in the West at 19-10.

The signing of Doncic is the latest young star to ink their name alongside the Jordan company. This past offseason, Jordan Brand came away has big winners in the shoe free agency market with the signings of Celtics’ star Jayson Tatum and Pelicans’ rookie Zion Williamson — the NBA No.1 overall draft pick.

Upon his return to the court, the Mavericks will take on 12-17 the San Antonio Spurs, Thursday night, inside the American Airlines Travel Center in Dallas. Tip-off is slated for 7 P.M. CT.
